Sir John Evans was the owner of an extensive book collection, particularly strong in the fields of archaeology and numismatics. These books now form a valued part of the Sackler Library collections in those fields and are actively used by present day-scholars at Oxford. The books are conspicuous by their rich and colourful bindings, attractive marbled papers and the Evans bookplate. The collection also contains more than ninety bound volumes of Evans's collection of off-prints in a range of languages. Many of these are off-prints annotated by Sir John and/or by the author.
